Krista’s life long passion has been and is creating, whether the form be drawing, writing, dancing, clay, painting or playing an instrument. She began her career in the Decorative Arts as an independent contractor to several other Artists in the Denver area while pursuing her Bachelor’s of Fine Art, emphasizing in painting. Five years later she found Diseño, Inc in 2006 to provide decorative concrete applications, specialty paint finishes and custom artwork for residential and commercial clients. In May of 2010 Diseno became Shiner Studios to exemplify the difference in the contracting world as an Artist first and an Artisan second. With over a decade working in the Arts & Decorative Arts profession, she ably braids together her artistic skills, technical expertise and dedication to client service to create unique design elements and fine art installations.
With extensive art education, professional training in and outside of her industries, knowledge of creative trends, and the use of cutting-edge products or techniques she is able to transform a space into a work of art. Her approach leans into the spiritual realm, intertwining the emotional depths of color and texture with cultural and architectural styles to create a sacred space in which the client’s vision is brought to life. She has worked with private and corporate clients that include homeowners, luxury real estate developers and commercial entities such as restaurants, boutiques and bars. For each project, she deftly translates her client’s vision, desires and commercial or aesthetic goals into a wholly unique and elegant treatment. Because of the specialized nature of the process, she often collaborates directly with other artists, designers and architects to ensure that all elements of the space are created in harmony.
Krista continues creating artwork, most specifically paintings, a direction that is flourishing and which had guided her into the realm of Decorative Arts in the beginning. She has been focused in the custom design and installation industry foremost during her career yet continues to augment her professional and artistic training with extensive research, coursework and experimentation with products and techniques to offer others an innovative approach in the restoration of their home or business. Her love of people, animals and nature is apparent in her work where she strives to be an advocate for each of their unheard voices. Her future plans entail traveling the world, painting & creating, teaching, and volunteering where she plans to bridge her expanding creative capacity with her business for the efforts and benefits of organizations focused on humanitarian, ecological and environmental efforts.
